Hoo Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1983. In year 2002, he went to Chung-Ang University in Korea and double majored in Philosophy and in Wind and String Instruments (Bass). In year 2004, he went to a Berklee International Network School in Korea and started performing as a professional musician in Seoul. He was featured in a TV program called EBS space, where many famous artists such as Benny Golson and George Garzone have been featured. Furthermore, he has performed in numerous jazz festivals worldwide; Jarasum Jazz festival in South Korea, Taichung Jazz festival in Taiwan, and Penang Jazz festival in Malaysia. He has released many albums of various genres, such as jazz, tango, and crossover with the famous artists in Korea. Currently, he is a student at Berklee and he’s studying under George Garzone, Hal Crook, and Danilo Perez, John Patitucci. In addition, he is a member of Berklee Global Institute of Jazz. He has done numerous recitals at Berklee and recorded albums with Nikolas Anadolis and Claudio Leone. From Berklee, he received Elvin Jones Scholarship and the scholarship from the Asia Tour. While studying at Berklee, he participated in Monterey Jazz Festival in CA USA, Santo Domingo Jazz Festival of Dominican Republic and has gone on performance tours with other various musicians to San Francisco, New Hampshire, Paris and etc. He was also featured in the radio program called WICN and played with Joe Lovano in Regatta Bar.
